Senate Hearing Spotlights Deregulation: Senate Embraces Trump’s AI Action Plan to Fast-Track Innovation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Senate Subcommittee on Science, Manufacturing, and Competitiveness, led by Chairman Ted Budd (R-N.C.), held a hearing titled “AI’ve Got a Plan: America’s AI Action Plan” to examine the Trump Administration’s latest national AI strategy, Winning the Race: America’s AI Action Plan.

We are approaching AI not with fear, but responsible boldness. Supporting and encouraging the best innovative work for private industry and America’s universities.
— Michael Kratsios, Science Advisor to the President of the United States

The hearing featured testimony from Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and focused on bolstering U.S. innovation, streamlining AI infrastructure, and preserving America’s global technology edge in the face of mounting competition from China.

The Action Plan, unveiled earlier this summer, outlines the Administration’s vision to catalyze a new era of U.S.-led AI development by accelerating domestic deployment, resisting regulatory overreach, and positioning American AI products at the forefront of global markets. Committee members, including Senators Ted Budd and Ted Cruz, echoed strong support for the plan’s emphasis on free-market innovation, infrastructure investment, and strategic competitiveness.

Legislogiq’s Farhan Chughtai released the following statement:

“Today’s hearing made clear that the U.S. approach to AI is entering a new phase; one defined by infrastructure-first innovation, deregulatory urgency, and an explicit rivalry with China. The President’s AI Action Plan provides a roadmap for transforming American AI leadership from rhetoric into reality but only if Congress, industry, and civil society can align on implementation.

LegisLogiq welcomes the plan’s call to reduce red tape and scale foundational AI infrastructure. Yet sustained leadership also demands robust safeguards, interoperability standards, and international alignment. We urge lawmakers to balance acceleration with accountability, ensuring American AI not only wins the race, but defines the rules.”

Legislogiq will continue to monitor legislative developments stemming from today’s hearing, including any forthcoming congressional proposals aimed at codifying key elements of the Action Plan into law.
